The Maxxis Dissector returns, completely revised, refined and more versatile than ever. In close collaboration with downhill pro Troy Brosnan, a tire has been developed that combines high speed with precise cornering and reliable braking control. The basis for this is formed by the proven Rekon, Minion DHF and HighRoller II profiles, whose properties have been combined in a high-performance all-round tire for demanding, technical terrain. The completely redesigned side lugs of the Dissector [Gen.2] offer a larger contact area and finer sipes, which noticeably improves cornering grip, especially on hard, rocky or rooty terrain. They provide more stability, faster ground contact and a safer riding experience. The center of the tread remains in the proven 2-3-2 arrangement, with the middle lugs now split to increase braking power and better adapt to the ground. Transition lugs have been moved further outwards to make the steering behavior more consistent. The Dissector is ideal as a rear tire for downhill or bike park use and also impresses in the trail version at the front, especially on bikes with 120 to 140 millimetres of suspension travel.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and have too angular a shape on wide rims, resulting in less than optimal performance.
WT tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an inner dimension between 30 and 39 mm.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no inner tube, the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealing milk than other "tubeless ready" tires. The bead of our TR tires is completely covered with a layer of rubber, just like a real UST tubeless tire. This means that tubeless mounting is successful on all rims with standard dimensions right from the first inflation and with little liquid. Like tires from other manufacturers, "normal" MAXXIS MTB tires can also be mounted tubeless with sealant, as the carcass fabric is very tight. However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless mounting and guaranteed by MAXXIS. Tubeless mounting of other models is at your own risk.
DoubleDown
Doubledown tires are constructed like Maxxis downhill tires: Two carcass plies reinforced with a butyl insert in the sidewall. However, thanks to the two 120 TPI (instead of 60TPI) carcass plies and aramid bead, they are significantly lighter than downhill tires, much more stable and robust than TR + EXO tires and therefore ideal for tough enduro courses.
