Shimano Dura-Ace PD-R9300 – New Generation Road Pedal System

The Shimano Dura-Ace PD-R9300 represents a complete redesign of Shimano’s top-tier road pedal platform.

For the first time, Shimano has developed the pedal, new SPD-SLR cleat and S-PHYRE road shoe together as one integrated system, with a focus on reducing stack height, increasing stability and improving power transfer.

Lower Stack Height

The biggest change is a 2.3 mm reduction in cleat stack height compared with the previous SPD-SL system.

By bringing the rider’s foot closer to the pedal axle, Shimano aims to create a more direct connection between rider and bike, improving stability and pedalling efficiency.

The full benefit of the reduced stack height is achieved when the PD-R9300 pedals are paired with the new SPD-SLR cleats and compatible S-PHYRE shoes.

Increased Stiffness & Reduced Resistance

The Dura-Ace PD-R9300 sits at the top of Shimano’s new road pedal range, offering the highest level of stiffness and the lowest rotational resistance.

Compared with the Ultegra R8200 pedal, Shimano claims the PD-R9300 is:

• 11% stiffer

• 53% lower in rotational resistance

The pedal also uses refined bearing surfaces and a heat-treated axle to deliver smooth rotation and durability under high loads.

New SPD-SLR Cleat System

The PD-R9300 introduces Shimano’s new SPD-SLR cleat platform, replacing the previous SPD-SL design at the Dura-Ace level.

The redesigned cleat reduces both stack height and engagement angle while also lowering overall cleat weight.
